Full-time Senior UX Designer

at Graeme Craig in London

We're looking for a Senior UX Designer to join our User Experience team responsible for designing our 'state of the art' cloud-based security, email archiving and email continuity platform. The key responsibilities of the Senior UX Designer are to develop, articulate and lead all aspects of User Experience Design for all of Mimecast's SaaS-based product offerings. This position requires a designer who excels at User Experience design within a technical environment here at Mimecast in London. As a Senior UX Designer, you will be leading the Interaction Design phase on broad and complex projects, from the sketching of the main functional concepts through to wireframes and prototypes. You will work with Product Managers, UI Designers, Researchers, Product Copywriters and Engineers to improve product features while developing new ones. Reporting to the UX Director, this is a strategic position that will require the successful candidate to get their hands dirty and lead human-centered design activities to frame real business problems and customer hypotheses and then design full-scale multichannel experiences.

• Define and manage all aspects of a User-Centred Design Process
• Understand the how best to meet the needs of Mimecast consumers, through UX Research, analytics, data, competitor benchmarking and design trends
• Apply strategic thinking to create compelling, engaging end-to-end experiences which balance user needs, business goals, and technological realities across desktop and mobile channels
• Work closely with Product Managers, UX Researchers, UI Designers, Product Copywriters and Engineers to design exceptional products for Mimecast customers
• Communicate designs through flows, customer journeys, wireframes and prototypes to support cross-disciplinary team communication, collaboration, and development
• Collaborate closely with UI Designers on Design Pattern Library and Style Guide definition, creation and maintenance
• Learn about clients and collect feedback on your design concepts in partnership with our UX Researchers and Product Managers
• Create engaging, compelling and well-structured presentations of your designs
• Transparently communicate on your progress
• Influence senior stakeholders and multi-disciplinary delivery teams
• Mentor less experienced team members and support their growth

• Bachelor’s Degree in HCI, Cognitive Science, User Centered Design, Fine Arts or another related field, or equivalent experience
• At least five years' experience in User Experience design role
• Comprehensive understanding of UX Design principles
• Deep expertise in Axure, including prototype design and component library creation
• Mid to senior-level experience in Information Design, with a portfolio that includes User Journey Maps, Wireframes, and Prototypes
• Ability to create rapid prototypes to prove or disprove your hypothesis
• Ability to take ownership, creatively solve problems, and pro-actively secure the objectives of the business
• High levels of independence, being able to work without close supervision, managing your own time and work
• Accurate and meticulous with extreme attention to detail
• Solid problem solving and analytical skills
• Initiative, having the confidence to make decisions and act on them
• Great communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent presentation skills especially with multiple stakeholders
• Experience of work in a demanding, fast-paced environment with ambitious schedules in an Agile environment
