Full-time UX Designer

at The Chemistry Group in London

We are looking for a talented UX Designer with a strong aptitude for research, to join our Product Team in London (Oxford Circus) on a permanent basis.

What does the current UX Team look like?

The UX Team is fairly new to Chemistry, sitting within the Product Team, and is headed up by a Senior UX Manager, to whom you’d be reporting. The team has full sponsorship of the Leadership Team, with much excitement about the current and potential value it brings to the table. The vision for the team is to be known for high quality, imaginative, forward-thinking work, as well as reliability and efficiency.

What will I be working on?

Working as part of an agile team alongside a Product Manager, Business Psychologist, tech lead and subject-matter experts, you’ll be evaluating and redesigning Chemistry’s existing product propositions, which measure values, motivations and intellect to predict the behaviour/performance of employees and potential employees. You will be improving the user experience for these products, streamlining and automating processes. You can expect regular coaching sessions with the Senior UX Manager, but this will be mainly to challenge your thinking - this role will allow you full ownership of user experience and freedom of choosing the appropriate tools and methodologies to achieve your goals.

What will my daily routine look like?

There’s no such thing as routine at Chemistry. We will need you to switch ‘thinking hats’ frequently and foresee this role consisting of: 30% drawing/communicating process flows, customer journeys and experience maps; 20% running ideation sessions to improve products, automate processes and find new product opportunities; 50% wireframing, prototyping and user testing.

Define, clarify and solve problems
Map and improve processes
Be a UX generalist, energised by working across all UX areas, from journey/experience mapping and wireframing (lo- and hi-fi) to information architecture, user testing and service design
Effectively plan and conduct UX research activities, including user testing, co-creation workshops, product opportunity experiments, interviews and surveys
Quickly visualize ideas with sketches, wireframes and interactive prototypes
Actively seek feedback at all stages of your workflow
Be excited by the prospect of working within an interdisciplinary agile team, as opposed to an internal UX agency
Ability to manage your time and priorities efficiently, and comfortable with frequently changing requirements

Being Chemistry, it goes without saying that we’re constantly striving to better our own working environment. We are a highly collaborative, people-focused team, promoting the honest belief that quality of well-being is just as important as quality of work. That’s why hard work is bolstered with free lunches, company-wide development sessions, one-to-one sessions with a nutritionist, running club and much more.

Why should I join now?

As cliched as it sounds, there has never been a better time to join Chemistry. Your team would be involved in crucial new stages of discovery and opportunity that will shape the future of Chemistry. This is a unique opportunity to have meaningful impact on people’s lives and reinvent the world of work.
