Lead UX/IA Designer

Job description

This is an exciting opportunity (permanent or contractors) for an experienced user-centred designer, who has a passion for creating exceptional user experiences and who understands the importance of a user first approach.

Our clients are businesses, charities, education and startups. Budgets range from £30k - £300k, and cover every type of project. Our approach to projects helps us deliver great work, with the minimum of fuss, in a relaxed and professional environment.

You will be working with a skilled web development team in a friendly, hard-working web agency, based in Central London, producing content managed products for a wide variety of clients using, but not limited to, the Drupal CMS framework combined with HTML5 technologies.

The ideal candidate will already have several years of experience and be comfortable working face to face with clients, creating approval designs as both UX/UI centred wireframes and graphical mock-ups.

Key Responsibilities

Produce standardized, UX deliverables including information graphics to elucidate user research insights, navigation, and user interfaces with sitemaps, paper prototypes and interactive wireframes
Ensure all UI definition and development is consistent with usability standards, best practices, and strategy
Work directly with clients to visualize and illustrate product ideas and requirements
Partner with product/project managers to define the problems, solutions, requirements and prioritisation
Support the development of concepts in line with the business process model, taking into account existing capabilities and technical architecture/roadmaps
Build strong relationships with client stakeholders
Help represent the agency in the pitching process

Skills & Knowledge

Essential Criteria:

Ability to visualise concepts and to translate ideas into designs
Extensive IA and UI/UX skills
Ability to clearly represent key concept areas at all levels from basic sketches, through wireframes and graphical mock-ups
Strong skills with relevant design tools, for example: Axure, Lucid Chart, Adobe Creative Suite
Demonstrate a good grasp of digital design, animation and typography fundamentals, as well as a basic knowledge of current and emerging design techniques
Portfolio of digital product design that has been built and shipped to users.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of interaction principles, patterns, and trends.
Experience of working within a web production team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A passion for digital media and knowledge of current digital trends
Excellent time management skills

Desirable Criteria

Additional Factors Useful for the Role:

Experience with content management systems - in particular Drupal.
Familiarity with user experience (UX) design and research techniques
Knowledge of and experience in digital product development, and relevant technologies (including but not limited to Drupal, Wordpress, PHP, MYSQL, HTML5).
Exposure to developing products for mobile with consideration to UI and responsive/adaptive design.
